English Country Garden

After what can only be described as an appalling weekend on an international scale, out came the sun and everything became that little bit better.  Yes, although the unrelenting downpours and gloomy skies have suggested otherwise, there appears to be a summer in there after all.  In typically English style, this prompted a revival in the sunniest, most overtly inappropriate outfit choices possible (cue my all time favourite, break-your-neck wedges and sunflower two-piece anyone?).  Having raided the Mother's wardrobe and finding all of these absolute gems, it seemed criminal to keep them to myself.
(Also somewhat momentously, I'm not wearing a single item of black..not even sure who I am anymore!)

Bright Young Things

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the last (sadly) Central St Martins Jewellery Design Degree Show to be held in their Charing Cross Road building.  Typical to the CSM reputation, the show was bursting at the seams with exciting new talent, and I look forward to following the inevitable rise of some of the graduates.  The above photos are of extremely poor quality, due to the fact that I had about 2 seconds to take them, as I was only (half) permitted to take them.  They show the final collection of my close friend, emerging designer, Debbie Millsop.  Citing her influences as traditional chain mail and Mayan traditions, Debbie's jewellery juxtaposes harsh against delicate, natural against manmade, and exquisite craftsmanship against effortless organic forms.  Gaining particular interest in the exhibition was the stunning feather-collared, chainmail neckpiece, the largest piece to be shown, and one of the most memorable. Although largely wearable, this collection has an powerful couture air, fitting as the "armour" of the modern day, and celebrating the woman as warrior.

Country Bumpkins

Feeling the pangs of Glasto envy, Bex and I went in search of a field.  We stumbled upon this quaint country chapel and along with the murky weather, it seemed fitting as a backdrop to our city/country, stormy hued outfits.  First outing for my new shoes (spectacularly ill-suited to such terrain), which unlike their almost identical counterparts, were from ASOS and are not by Jeffrey Campbell or Jessica Simpson, I feel a bit guilty at their outright plagiarism... but I still love them.

(and the pictures of Bex..erm wow)

I'm not dead!

So I'm breaking the blog drought with a pictorial summary of sorts, of life post-exams.  This has largely consisted of Manchester and London, copious amounts of live music, numerous vintage shops, and a rediscovery of my love for Brick Lane.  More exciting posts to come imminently as picking up after a month was easier said than done.

Paris Part Deux

The streets of Place de la Madeleine, a bottle of 1 euro champagne, my ever-beautiful best friends (behind and in front of the lens), an over-enthusiastic Russian tourist, and some poor creature's tail all resulted in these impromptu photos taken during our final hours in Paris.

Paris

Five days of excessive wine consumption, frivolous purchases, elaborate vintage pilgrimages, marathon-worthy walking distances, macaroons and "chic" envy.  Staying in the sublime Place de la Madeleine allowed for hours of interest for every man and his impeccably dressed wife.  With the city as beautiful as ever, I spent the whole time concocting a plan to move. So until then...

to begin

So having managed to procrastinate over making my blog debut for an embarrassing amount of time, LFW happened, and thus it all began.  Attending university in Somerset House allowed for a daily dose of fashion envy of those on the inside of those famous tents, and although a world apart from being the "in", here is a tiny step towards what I coveted from the "out".  Fashion Week, and all its excitement may have left the building for another season, but for me, something new is starting.
